Let's imagine absolutely different ending of this story.
When the friends stopped at Kempton Park, instead of disgraceful song Harris declaimed an episode from "Romeo and Julliet" and everybody was delighted. Nearby a theatre director had a rest, and when he heard Harris, he approached to the men and offered Harris to take part in a new play. He now feels better and decided to try his skills in the theatre. Montmorency met a little pekingese Nanny and fell in love with her. The friends are so satisfied with their pleasant trip that they decided to travel around the world the next time.

I read this work, too, it is very funny. I think your ending of the story is very interesting. Perhaps add a few details and this work would be even better. Maybe you should think about writing books. :)
